This page is dedicated to the best driving game ever, that is Gran Turismo. For 3 years SCEE developed with great accuracy the graphics and physics that would accompany the game. Then   it got it's release in Japan and it flew straight to the top of the charts selling more than 700,000 copies in it's first week. The japanese were also the first to sample the Dual Shock controller, which enhanced the gaming experience

But all this aside, Gran Turismo is definately not 'just another driving game'. It is rare to see a game recieving this much hype and then being able to live up to it, but whilst having it's supporters GT also has it's critics - people who rightly pointed out that the Music in the Japanese version was poo, and that the game ran a little too slowly; both are aimed at the Japenese version so don't be put off. In answer to the criticisms, the UK version runs 25% faster than the Japanese version, and a new sound track has been added including bands such as Ash and Garbage, there is also a remix of the Manic's 'Everything must go' by The Chemical Brothers. There is also a few additons to the car selections Aston Martin and TVR have include more models.

So what makes GT different from all the other racers? For starters the graphics, you can't fault GT in the instant gratification stakes - you'll see it moving and fall in love, instantly.
The attention to detail is amazing with no gliches, no pop-ups, no clipping errors, the scenary is solid and realistic. The speed is also believable you can tell the difference between a Mazda Demio A Spec and a Toyota Supra TRD 3000. You can also feel the power increase when you tune your engine, to squeeze more power out. Every one of the 300 hundred cars sounds different, yes, there are over 300 hundred different models to choose from in GT mode. Other reviewers only managed to test 10 or so of the cars in GT, but i have had the benefit of testing ALL of them from my First car the Honda Prelude V-Tech to the amazing Mitsubishi FTO LM, and rest assured the representations in the game are spot on. It is an incredible feat in programming.

If you can't be bothered with the buying and selling of cars in order to win, there is an arcade mode with less cars, and there is an option to race head-to-head on a split screen mode. Win the arcade modes and you will be given more tracks and makes of cars. But the whole point in the game is to race in GT mode. A collection of icons represent car washes, dealers, races, and license tests not forgetting your own garage of course. When you first go to your garage you will see 10,00 credits to spend, and no car, so it's time to go shopping, you then realise that 10,000 isn't alot of money, so buy a crappy second-hand car. Then you start racing, and hit a snag, all of the decent, money giving races are blocked out - to get them opened you need to pass your license there are 3 different levels to get, all giving you more advanced races. After you get the licenses you get the idea, and bigger races give bigger money, you buy better faster cars and tune them to work how you want them to.

So what is your verdict you probably are'nt asking, well this IS the best driving simulator on earth, nothing even comes close in comparison. 10/10, A*, Distinstion - none of these describe the shear depth and playability of this game go and buy it now!!!

10/10
